Directly on the heels of the release of recent Moodle 3.2, Moodle HQ has announced the release of Moodle Mobile 3.2 that tracks the updates and upgrades of the core software offering.
Moodle HQ doesn’t want teachers to feel unappreciated. That is why Moodle Mobile 3.2 comes with offline grading, so they can mark assignments and provide feedback and comments. Advanced grading methods will expand in upcoming versions.
Easier authentication allows automatic browser login when coming from the app. This is available for all users. Sign-up options have been expanded, while maintaining security, to allow email-based self-registration, CAPTCHAs and custom profiles. Sites that use SSO Authentication no longer require a plugin to enable Moodle Mobile.
Extended notification options will keep you on top of all Moodle course activities, including when grades are up. Students will no longer feel compelled to refresh Moodle every five minutes! A link on the side menu lets them go straight to their grades.
Symbols of effort and identity are enhanced with profile pictures and badges. These and some of the other features require the Moodle Mobile Additional Features Plugin enabled on the Moodle Site, especially if they are not Moodle 3.2.
Along with the new features showcased, there are performance improvements that most definitely will have a positive impact on the experience. The app is now smaller, faster and consumes less data and power.
Screens “My Courses”, “Assignments”, “Profile Settings”, “Forums” have been redesigned and expanded. Orphaned sections are gone for good.
Since Moodle 3.1, major releases of Moodle and Moodle Mobile have launched in the same month. Whether this will be the rule from now on it is not certain at the time.
These updates are also available for the Branded Moodle Mobile Apps. Consult your local Moodle Partner.
