Martin Dougiamas – Founder and CEO of Moodle has proposed the name of the new theme for Moodle 3.2 as “Boost Theme”. The prototype of the Boost theme is ready for testing and comes up in a good shape now.
Earlier we have posted during the initial stages of the prototype but now the Boost theme has got a considerable progress including getting a nice name and lot of nice features.
Boost Theme Features:
The best thing which I liked the most is the inclusion of collapsible sidebars which can be displayed as per the user preference through a small button as shown below.
The other thing is the Contextual Links which adds the navigation links to breadcrumb as well as to the side of the page as displayed below:
One more important thing for Moodle theme designers is that the theme will also come with presets which will give the people an option to get some different look and feels without installing a new theme, or dealing with the advanced settings.
The theme will be added to the Moodle integration master next week, till then you can download through https://github.com/damyon/moodle/tree/MDL-55071-master/theme/boost
You can test it yourself on the Moodle prototype site here – http://prototype.moodle.net/theme For more details about the progress over the theme project, check out this forum thread.
I am pretty amused by seeing the changes coming in the new theme for Moodle. What is your take on the new Moodle theme coming in Moodle? Will it solve the challenge of improving the Moodle UX?
