Did you activate Event Reminders on your courses yet? With Event Reminders you and your students can receive emails whenever something new happens. For example, students can decide the number of days in advance of a deadline they want a notification.
The Event Reminders plugin has recently been updated to make it Moodle 3 compatible. It expands of the some event types for which a reminder can be set. It also gives new notification options for students, like limiting the number of emails. It also allows 24 hour format, which it used to cause some issues when a user had changed their time format to this.
There are also some more technical fixes made by the community, which plugin developer Isuru Madushanka Weerarathna included with proper credit. These included
cron (Moodle’s internal clock) errors caused by new roles in Moodle 3 the plugin did not support until now.
Fun fact, Event Reminders originated as a project for new developers in Google’s Summer of Code 2012. Moodle has been involved with GSOC since 2006.
If you are a student, ask your teacher to install the Event Reminders plugin. Make the case that it will make you more attentive to upcoming deadlines, and more participative in forums.
